DR. ALAN KWOK

Specialist in Respiratory Medicine
Dr. KWOK Yuk Lung is the Founder and Director of LeGENE – the company that pioneers Personal Genetic Services in Hong Kong, a service that makes personalized healthcare a reality.
The journey started when Dr. Kwok graduated from the St. Joseph’s College and was provisionally accepted by the Medical Faculty of the Chinese University of Hong Kong due to his outstanding academic results. He obtained the Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery in 1995. His medical career started in Tuen Mun Hospital of the Hospital Authority (HA). Dr. Kwok acquired the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 1999. He became a specialist in Respiratory Medicine & Internal Medicine in 2003 and acquired the Fellowships of the Hong Kong College of Physicians and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. His professional status was recognized internationally – Dr. Kwok became the Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians in 2006, was awarded as Physician Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow of the Unit Kingdom in 2012, Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2014, and elected as the Fellow of the renowned Society of Biology in 2014. Dr. Kwok devotedly fought the SARS battle at the frontline in 2003. Ten years later, on behalf of the profession, Dr. Kwok depicted the heroic acts of Respiratory Physicians in the TV program “SARS 10 Years”.
DR. MALCOM HILTON

Dr. Malcom Hilton obtained his my medical degree at Cambridge and Oxford Universities, achieving first class honours in my medical sciences degree. His ENT specialist training was in the South West of the UK, supplemented by dedicated speciality fellowships, working in Toronto, Canada and Darwin, Northern Australia. His subspecialist surgical interest is the management of all types of ear problems; including chronic ear disease needing surgery, and associated ear/balance problems such as dizziness, tinnitus, Meniere’s disease and hearing problems. He also runs dedicated voice targeted at professional voice users.
In 2016 he partnered with a local UK organisation, World Extreme Medicine to deliver a unique MSc qualification in ‘Extreme Medicine’: evaluating the delivery of healthcare in a wide variety of out-of-hospital special environment. He is the senior professionalism tutor for Exeter University Medical school and am an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons final ENT examinations. For the past 10 years he has travelled to Nepal on a regular basis to take part in ear surgery charity camps run by a UK based charity, BRINOS (Britain Nepal Otology Service). During a 10 day stay they typically perform 140-150 major ear operations for patients who may travel several hours from surrounding areas to attend the camp.
He has an active research profile. He is an author on several clinical reviews in the Cochrane Database of Systematic reviews and regularly peer-review journal articles for the British Medical Journal and Annals of College of Surgeons, as well as ongoing research into the epidemiology of Meniere’s disease and vocal fold dysfunction.
DR. WILL POLKINGHORN

Dr. Will Polkinghorn is Co-Founder and CEO of Driver, a first-in-kind consumer platform that connects cancer patients to the world’s largest and most advanced inventory of treatments. Based in San Francisco and Shanghai, Driver is the first technology platform to co-launch in the United States and China. Driver’s lead investor is Li Ka-shing (Horizons Ventures). Will is a physician scientist, formerly on the faculty of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he pioneered new treatments for high-risk prostate cancer, specifically focused on modulating DNA repair pathways with targeted therapy. Dr. Polkinghorn is a Rhodes scholar, received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School, where he was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow, and completed clinical training at both Massachusetts General Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
DR. ANGUS HSU

Dr. Angus Hsu studied medicine at University of Cambridge and University College London, graduating with a MA (Hons) and MBBS degree. During his time at Cambridge, Dr. Hsu completed an intercalated BSc degree in pharmacology with a research project on the novel nucleic acid binding Alba proteins. After qualifying as a doctor, Dr. Hsu worked in Newham University Hospital and Queen's Hospital. During the tenure, Dr. Hsu was actively involved in teaching medical students and providing training to the nursing staff. He has organized mock exams for medical students and acted as an examiner for undergraduate exams. For his accomplishment, Dr. Hsu was awarded a Certificate of Commitment to Teaching from the NHS. Dr. Hsu also undertook a diabetes audit commissioned by Clinical Commissioning Group to improve patient care and the findings were presented at a local GP meeting. Being a highly motivated individual, Dr. Hsu has worked as a private tutor when he was an undergraduate and a doctor. He has over ten years experience in one-to-one and small group tuitions, focusing on biology and chemistry at all levels. Dr. Hsu also took pride in guiding many prospective students into top UK medical schools, leveraging on insider knowledge on what admission tutors are looking for so that students can avoid common pitfalls.
MS. JENNIFER MA

Jennifer Ma graduated from Oxford University with First Class Honors in Economics and Management (B.A., Hon M.A.), and achieved her Masters of Education from the University of Hong Kong in 2011. Jennifer is the Founder & Director of ARCH Community Outreach and ARCH Education. She is responsible for curriculum development and as the Head of University Counseling for UK and HK, Jennifer leads a team of 100+ counselors with subject expertise across 30+ disciplines and specialises in MMI, UKCAT and BMAT training.
Medicine has always been one of the most popular subjects amongst students in Asia. With achieving more than 210+ offers in past 5 years, medicine is indeed one of ARCH team’s strongest areas. Jennifer has been invited to deliver large scale pre-university preparation talks and workshops at Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, Hong Kong Outstanding Student Association and HKU Academy for the Talented.

Dr. Lam studied abroad in the U.S. after completing Form 2 in Hong Kong. He went to Choate Rosemary Hall and then graduated from Yale University. He returned and studied medicine at the University of Hong Kong. After 6 years of medical studies and internship training, he joined the Hong Kong Eye Hospital in 2004 and became an ophthalmologist. He is now in private practice, specializing the corneal and lens diseases. He also teaches Optometry students in Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and he is an honorary assistant professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
DR. ROLAND LEUNG

Dr. Leung graduated from Melbourne University with MBBS in 1984, and obtained a Doctorate in Medicine in 1994 with a thesis on the Epidemiology of Asthma and Allergy in Asians and Immigrants in Australia. He is a Specialist in Respiratory Medicine, and a fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians, Hong Kong College of Physicians, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Leung was a lecture in the Department of Medicine in Monash University, Melbourne, and Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong University, and Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine in Prince of Wales Hospital, CUHK. His research interest and expertise include asthma, allergic disease, sleep related breathing disorder, and clinical respiratory medicine. He is currently the Deputy Head of the Clinical Respiratory Medicine Assembly of the Asian Pacific Society of Respirology, and the Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences.
MR. WILLIAM CHEUNG

Dr. William Cheung is a registered Chinese medicine practitioner (CMP) in Hong Kong, specializing in integrative Chinese and western medicine. He has extensive clinical experience in applying Chinese medicine and acupuncture to neurological disorders. In particular, he records significant clinical improvements in treating strokes, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis, Neuromyelitis Optica, Alzheimer and other cognitive disorders. Before starting his own private practice 2018, he held the title of Professional Consultant of Hong Kong Institute of Integrative Medicine, as well as the Deputy Chief CMP of the Integrative Medical Centre, Faculty of Medicine, Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is a member of various medical associations including Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Council, Hong Kong Registered Chinese Medicine Practitioners Association, and Hong Kong Traditional Chinese Medicine Orthopaedic and Traumatic Association. He actively participates in community services and serves as the voluntary consultant of YWCA. William holds a Bachelor degree of Chinese Medicine and a Master of Philosophy in Chinese Medicine. His research interests are on the intervention of Chinese medicine on neurological diseases, early east-meets-west integrative medicine, and health cultivating therapy.

DR. LIZ WILSON
Dr. Wilson completed her Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York at Geneseo. She earned her Medical Doctorate at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and graduated from the Mount Sinai Beth Israel Internal Medicine residency program in New York. Dr. Wilson trained as a physician in the United States and is a board-certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. Her previous clinical experience includes managing patients in the setting of an opiate treatment program in Harlem, New York, and proving outpatient internal medicine consultation in rural Nebraska. After moving to Hong Kong, two years ago, Dr. Wilson began working remotely for a United States-based medical education company and volunteering with MindHK. Dr. Wilson believes strongly in the importance of improving mental health awareness and access to treatment.
DR. HANNAH SUGARMAN

Dr. Sugarman completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Nottingham. She earned her Masters of Science in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University College London. Her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology was completed at the Royal Holloway, University of London. Dr. Sugarman is a UK-trained Clinical Psychologist who has worked in mental health for a number of years across a range of different settings. In Hong Kong she has been working with adult clients at Central Minds and The London Medical Clinic. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, she worked in a physical rehabilitation service in London, working with a range of neurological illness and other long term physical health conditions. Her areas of clinical interest include neuropsychology and working psychologically with physical symptoms.
MS. ODILE THIANG

Odile completed her Bachelor of Nursing as well as her Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) – Masters of Nursing degree at the University of Toronto, with her Nurse Practitioner clinical training completed at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
Odile is a Paediatric Advanced Practice Nurse with over eight years of experience in paediatric emergency care at the Hospital for Sick Children’s Hospital Emergency Department, in Toronto. In Hong Kong Odile has joined the Child Development Team at the Southside Family Health Centre as a Clinical Care Coordinator; there she facilitates a collaborative family-centred approach to care. She has also been consulting with local NGOs, Mother’s Choice and MindHK, as a subject matter expert. Odile’s extensive experience has allowed her to cultivate her expertise in paediatric care, with unique exposure to paediatric development and mental health.
MS. BHAVNA BHARVANI

Bhavna received her Bachelor’s in Psychology at Georgetown University. She completed her Master’s in Clinical Counseling at the California School of Professional Psychology. Bhavna currently works at Central Minds providing therapy to LGBTQIA+ community, teenagers, adults and couples, to help them achieve a sense of well-being and fulfillment in relationships, work and play. She is a US-trained Clinical Counselor, registered with the California Board of Behavioural Science. In addition to her clinical experiences Bhavna has worked in Mumbai, New York, London, San Francisco and Hong Kong in professions ranging from television journalism to investment banking and market research.
MS. NICOLE TANNER
Founder and Director of Virtual Research Lab
Nicole Tanner is a final year medical student from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Nicole has been involved in clinical research for the past 5 years, with projects in paediatrics asthma, stroke, colorectal cancer surgery and fatty liver disease. She was awarded the Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme 2017, which allowed her to further pursue medical research in Stanford University and the University of Sydney. Nicole also takes special interest in medical education and promoting health in the community. She is the founder and director of Virtual Research Lab, a website platform that promotes medical research and education to young people through social media outlets.
